Here's what our members are saying about us...
"In late February, the local CBS affiliate ran a 3 minute "public interest" (?) story on 2 women that feel they were injured by a chiropractic adjustment. While my patients trust me and what I do to be safe, like most chiropractic patients, they needed help talking to friends and family members about the safety and effectiveness of their choice to continue getting adjusted.

Less than 2 weeks after the TV story, the In Touch Newsletter arrived at my door with its lead article being a review of the Spine article showing no statistical connection between chiropractic adjustments and stroke. I loved it. It is displayed prominently in my office."

"Voice For Health is so well received - patients ask for them. It is a wonderful publication, entertaining and informative in the right kind of language."
Dr. Gerald Arndt
Coshocton, OH

"Thanks for your commitment to the cause and your great Voice For Health publication over the years."
Dr. Robson Timbs
Malvern, South Australia

"Continuous patient education is a MUST. The problem is, how do you do this and keep it fresh, interesting, and informative all at the same time? That’s where Dr. Kim Stetzel’s WEEKLY HANDOUTS Program comes in! She’s done the work. She’s created interesting and informative, full color handouts. All you have to do is put them in your patient’s hands and let the handouts speak for themselves! I highly recommend this program for anyone who is interested in growing and maintaining a Lifetime Family Wellness practice."
Dr. George Auger
Greenville, SC

"What a great program. With our busy schedule, we didn’t always get time to put out regular patient education. Now, we just print out quality, full color, professional looking handouts on our color printer each week. WOW! thanks for taking the work out of consistent patient education."

Bible Based Health Care is a PowerPoint presentation that I developed and now offer for use by other doctors.

Don't Forget God in Your Marketing Efforts to Build and Maintain Your Practice.

I bet you are no different than me. We learn stunning truths about how the body works, we know what real health is, we observe amazing improvements in our patients, and we frustratingly ask, "Where are all the people I could be helping?"

"How can I teach my community what I have to offer?" is a better question to ask.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, .." ( Matthew 28:19). Jesus gave us all that Great Commission. Likewise, we are obligated to spread our knowledge and experience about health.

3 years ago, after 25 successful and very comfortable years in Chiropractic, I had a near death experience upon falling through the ice and almost drowning! It motivated me to embark on fulfilling a long calling I've felt to satisfy my frustration with the public's deception about health.  For several years I'd been resisting that urgent calling to reach out and help both the general public and other chiropractors on a grand scale, and knew I'd been blessed with a second chance to fulfill my mission after narrowly surviving that icy death trap. It's a classic "You can run but you can't hide" story.

I had published several articles about practice management and clinical competence over the years; so the next logical step was to author a book for the general public, and develop a patient education program that chiropractors can use to attract and retain more patients.  I looked closely at the many holistic health books on the book store shelves, and became even more motivated upon noticing that most of them are written poorly by either celebrities or "medical defectors" with little or no formal training or experience in holistic health. I also noticed that all of the patient education programs leave out the most important element -- God!

"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."   ~1 Timothy 4: 8-9

"They will turn to the Lord, and He will respond to their pleas and heal them." - Isaiah 19:22

"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God--this is your true and proper worship."                       -- Romans 12:1

My newly released 364 page book Whole Health Healing: The Budget Friendly Natural Wellness Bible for All Ages is carefully written with an emphasis on enlightening the public that chiropractic is a vital component of optimum health, and that God has gifted us with our own "doctor within". I specifically illustrate the benefits of chiropractic in the chapter called Structure Based Health Care. Additional chapters include Raising Healthier Children, Growing Older and Really Enjoying It, Exercises That Really Work, Enjoying Eating, and even How to Talk to Your Doctor. I even included an autism case study I previously published. The overall intention of the book is to clarify that it's an honor to God when we care for our bodies as stated in 1st Corinthians 6:19,20. I'm aiming to get more people into chiropractic offices and motivate them to use it for a lifetime. Why? Because I have not observed any safer, more effective and economical path to optimal health.

(see this  book's Table of Contents at the end of this article)

"Whole Health Healing is a well-researched and surprisingly entertaining book. Dr. Potisk is clearly "'outraged" at the current American "sickness-care" system, and it has lit a fire within him to inspire others to get well naturally. If more doctors were like him, we'd all be healthier for it." -- Suzy Cohen, RPh author of The 24-Hour Pharmacist and Drug Muggers

Thank you for writing this book. I really enjoyed it and I even learned from it. It is amazing how much we know but just don't put to use as a chiropractic family. It was refreshing to be reminded of the basics again. I am going to make this a required reading for my staff in our office, even the doctors need to read this so they remember how the patient receives this information. God Bless,  -Donna Williams, office manager, Williams Chiropractic Office, Ontario, Oregon

The reader response has been phenomenal. I frequently get comments like "Now I get it." And "Why wasn't I told this before?" Here is a recent comment I was emailed:  "I rarely buy books about health anymore after being let down by several that I found to be over-hyped and impractical.  But upon a recommendation of a friend, I bought Whole Health Healing and was blown away at the conversational style I can understand and with information I can put to use right now. I'll use chiropractic for the rest of my life. It's easy to recognize Dr Potisk's training and experience with the subject, and I love all the little stories he uses from his experiences in his practice, his own family, and his travels to remote places on Christian  mission trips. I'm now getting my wife and child on this new healthy path Dr Potisk makes so easy to follow." -- Brian Lampe of CEO Ministries

I never asked for any referrals yet had a huge referral based practice. One of my success secrets was to strategically place information like this book around my office to stimulate the patients to ask me "Do you think you could help my…..?" This book belongs in every DC's lending library, displayed in reception and adjusting rooms, and in every DC's community library. In conjunction with the book, I also developed an attractive and easy to use PowerPoint presentation called Bible Based Health Care,  meant to be  used  for presentations in offices,  at churches and community events.

To doctors who are struggling I ask "Are you actively reaching out to the people in your community?" Most who struggle are not doing it adequately and consistently. Some will say that they can't afford to do so. They don't realize that providing a lay lecture, like this Bible Based Health Care presentation is the most economical method of outreach.

"Dr. Potisk very capably delivers health and life information that is critically-needed in these times. Further, the importance of his message is reinforced by the fact that he lives his words in his own life." -Dr Victor Strang, Professor of Philosophy and Communication, Palmer College of Chiropractic

About the Bible Based Health Care Presentation:

This PowerPoint presentation contains 35 separate and unique slides. The presentation is aimed at both current chiropractic patients and potential chiropractic patients, illustrating the holistic concept of health being much more than just the absence of symptoms, that chiropractic care benefits all ages, and that the best reason to maintain health is as an honor to God.

"It is my privilege to have known Dr. Thomas Potisk for the past 15 years. Since joining the congregation, Dr. Potisk has risen steadily as a lay leader and currently serves as chairman of our board of elders. He is a frequent speaker and exhibitor at health fairs and models healthy living. He has served as my personal chiropractor for a number of years until cartilage loss in his hands put an early end to his active practice. Since retiring from daily practice he has been writing and promoting healthy living materials on his website and in print. I have only the highest respect both for his Christian faith but also his commitment to healthy living. His Bible Based Health Care program is tops!". --Pastor Mark Jeske, St Marcus church and Time of Grace Ministries, Milwaukee, WI.

After illustrating what real health is and motivating the audience to want it, the presentation focuses on 3 main areas: eating/nutrition, exercise/stretching, and posture/body structure. It contains several applicable biblical quotes, some humor, dozens of pictures, , illustrations on the importance of the nervous system, and even a short video ( on cell division -- real healing). When I give the presentation it takes approximately 45 minutes. The response is phenomenal!

The "missing link" in all presentations is how you close it. This is an art. Included in this package is a narrated CD of me giving this class and my unique close.  You won't want to miss it!

I suggest presenting this program in your office regularly and offering it to churches, businesses, and civic organizations in your community. The books that accompany the program can be sold, placed around your office, in your community's library, given as door prizes, and/ or offered as rewards for your patients who refer.

I often hear practice management speakers say "It's all about people." I go a step farther and say "It's all about God and his people!" That's why I made this Bible Based Health Care presentation available -- to put God first. God has been forgotten in health care for far too long; and even better, it's a perfect fit!

God's blessings to you,

Dr Tom Potisk

Bio -- Dr. Tom Potisk                                                   140

Introduction

Patients are more demanding of their doctors than ever before. They want top notch care from someone who is whole-heartedly dedicated, up-to-date, always available, on time, well rested, secure, thorough, honest, healthy, trustworthy, and a great communicator. Oh yeah, and don't forget they want a lot of your time and someone else to pay for it. Whew!!!!!!!!

Sounds like a huge responsibility doesn't it? It is. But it's also quite an honor to be needed like that, and you would want the same if you were a patient. Whether you're a veteran doctor or new graduate, you'll find solutions to dealing with those demands in this book.

If you find yourself pushing back at improving yourself and making changes, perhaps saying to yourself "I'm fine. I'm giving it all I've got. I'm human. Nobody will notice my deficiencies. I've already got a successful career. I'll be retiring soon anyway." or just, "Don't bother me." Then I'm really worried about you because every single one of us needs to strive for improvement. We especially owe that to those who seek our help.

"When you're finished changing, you're finished." -- Benjamin Franklin

The days of doctors barking out orders to patients, talking to patients instead of with them, and maintaining a composure of arrogance, are long gone. The patients likely know more, or will soon learn as much if not more, than their doctors about their illness and infirmities thanks to the media and internet. In this current era, we need to consider ourselves more of a partner in our patient's health, yes a partner with our patient, and partners need to be held to certain standards. Accepting our role as their partner, embracing it and developing it, is the key that unlocks the door to obtaining or reclaiming, and then maintaining, the joy of practice.

And don't consider our new role to be a let down. No, our position in society is a vitally important one and always will be, but like everything else, it changes with time. One could easily argue that this change is long overdue. If you're not already aware, doctors like you and me, on average, have several serious problems. We have a higher suicide rate then the general public. We have shorter life spans on average. We have higher rates of depression, divorce and drug abuse than the general population. And worse yet, we hide it all very well with our fancy new cars, big houses, expensive clothes, exotic vacations, and unfortunately, our overly inflated egos. Some of us are a shameful mess. Most of us are so full of ourselves; we have trouble seeing beyond our bank balances. If I've gotten your attention, congratulations, you're now on the path of betterment. If you're in denial, keep reading -- please!

Allow me to interrupt the fairytale of being a doctor. Let me help you look at, or hopefully outward from, the camouflaged downward spiral that so many doctors fall into. This is serious business. Your health, your family, your friends, future doctors, and most importantly the patient in front of you, needs and deserves that you be the best that you can be. Let this book give you a "check-up from the neck-up".

I wrote this book not just for you but also for me. I want "us" to have the inner peace knowing, without any doubt, that we've done all we can to be our best for our patients. This isn't about technical skills, although those are important too. No, the lessons in this book are mostly about you and me as persons -- happy healthy human beings, and the related skills that are sadly lacking in today's doctors.

You see the day will come, whether you are dreading it or hoping for it, that we will eventually no longer be able to serve patients. It may come as a result of our choosing, perhaps retirement, or as a result of unforeseen circumstances such as disability, licensing changes, or family issues.

So join me on this journey of introspection, of self evaluation, of planning and self improvement, so that on our final day in this world, when we gasp our last breath, we'll go out with a big smile, being content, that we've done all that was possible, that we can be proud and assured, that our patients can be proud and assured of us, that we gave them all that they deserve, and that we practiced with joy as a partner in their health and we did it to glorify God.

I saw an advertisement in a chiropractic periodical that tells me that if I implement this particular company's patient education program all my troubles will be solved. I bought it, spending thousands of dollars, and I had to close my office to travel to the seminar. The material was great, very motivating and inspiring to me. Then I find out I have to spend hundreds more to buy this company's brochures, newsletters, handouts, etc. Even worse,  I find out this is very time consuming to implement in my office. On top of all that I find out that it overwhelms my patients, even driving them away. One guy even asked me "Am I getting indoctrinated into a cult?" Sound familiar?

After 25 years I found a much better solution. It's far less expensive, involves little or no time, no stress, and patients love it!

I call it Wellness Wins! It's a handbook for patients. My co-author and I purposely designed it to solve the patient education frustrations we experienced during our 46 years of combined experience as DCs.

The solution is a 5 step technique  I call "4 eyes, 2 sentences and an elbow extension". It takes exactly 15 seconds!

Step 1) Look your patient squarely in the eyes.

Step 2) Say this "I want to sincerely thank you for trusting me and allowing me to provide your chiropractic care".

Step 3) Extend your elbow by handing them a crisp copy of the fabulous new patient education handbook Wellness Wins.

Step 4) Say this "Here is a gift -- a book that will explain how you can get and stay healthier than you ever thought possible".

Step 5) Get back to adjusting patients with your special God-given unique talents.

It's that easy. I'm not kidding. Listen doc, you don't have time to do more. And I can assure you the patients do not want to hear your rant about conventional medicine, side effects of drugs, universal intelligence, the nervous system, birth trauma causing subluxations, etc. That has all been tried for years and the net result has been an overall decline in chiropractic practices worldwide.

Now, you can certainly add to this by referring to the book during your table talk, asking patients questions about the books content, or giving a lay lecture or class periodically. In fact I have a Wellness Wins PowerPoint presentation available for you if needed.
