Here's what our members are saying about us...
"In late February, the local CBS affiliate ran a 3 minute "public interest" (?) story on 2 women that feel they were injured by a chiropractic adjustment. While my patients trust me and what I do to be safe, like most chiropractic patients, they needed help talking to friends and family members about the safety and effectiveness of their choice to continue getting adjusted.

Less than 2 weeks after the TV story, the In Touch Newsletter arrived at my door with its lead article being a review of the Spine article showing no statistical connection between chiropractic adjustments and stroke. I loved it. It is displayed prominently in my office."

"Voice For Health is so well received - patients ask for them. It is a wonderful publication, entertaining and informative in the right kind of language."

"Thanks for your commitment to the cause and your great Voice For Health publication over the years."
Dr. Robson Timbs

"Continuous patient education is a MUST. The problem is, how do you do this and keep it fresh, interesting, and informative all at the same time? That’s where Dr. Kim Stetzel’s WEEKLY HANDOUTS Program comes in! She’s done the work. She’s created interesting and informative, full color handouts. All you have to do is put them in your patient’s hands and let the handouts speak for themselves! I highly recommend this program for anyone who is interested in growing and maintaining a Lifetime Family Wellness practice."
Dr. George Auger

"What a great program. With our busy schedule, we didn’t always get time to put out regular patient education. Now, we just print out quality, full color, professional looking handouts on our color printer each week. WOW! thanks for taking the work out of consistent patient education."

I have had so many recovering addicts ask me, "What is your secret? You seem so free and you don't even seem to struggle with your addiction anymore." I respond with, "I am free and I don't struggle with addictions anymore." In return I usually get a look of…ok, she is hiding something or not being honest.

The truth is there is complete freedom from addiction. When I talk with an addict or recovering addict I express my love and excitement for them to "walk the freedom walk." (That is what I call it). Because it has been so imbedded in their minds from the beginning of their recovery that "they will always be in recovery and never truly be free from their disease of addiction," they don't believe me.

I know this to be true, not because I have degrees in addiction counseling, medical training, chiropractic training, theology, etc…I don't have any of those, but because I am LIVING it. I always tell people if they want to do something and have success find someone who is living what you want. For example, if you want to eat better, lose weight and get healthy look for someone who is a living example of that. I have seen so many nutritionists be obese and overweight advising others on how to eat. What is wrong with that picture? You may know someone who does not have the degree but is leading a healthy lifestyle and that is the person I would recommend. I have a hard time going to someone with degrees, etc…that is not a living example of what they are teaching.

Well, I have lived freedom for almost 6 years now and have not waivered. I have not even once been interested in going back to my drugs or any other kind of addiction. You see, for an addict the hardest part of staying in recovery is missing the great feeling you had with your drugs. When you find something better than your drugs you are not tempted to go back and that is where freedom comes.

*The first thing I start talking to them about is getting to know Jesus. Most are receptive to that but many have been so scared by religion, doctrine, Christian hate groups, etc…that they are completely hardened from that advice. I lovingly tell them Jesus is not about religion and all that other stuff, He is about love and fulfillment. I just encourage them to start reading the Bible and find out for themselves who Jesus really is and who He is to them.

*The next thing I talk with them about is giving up some things that will hinder them from reaching this freedom. Smoking has to go, not only because it is a drug but because it blocks the normal blood flow to the brain causing no restoration in that area even when you are off your drugs. I can explain the MRI research and scientific data that back this up and most people are interested and act like they know they need to give up their cigarettes. But, in working with recovering addicts that is usually one of the last things they will give up if they ever give it up.

Most rehab centers will not encourage addicts to give up their cigarettes because of one reason or another. I am very upset with this because we know now how that is blocking their recovery and we are doing a disservice to the addict when they are encouraged to continue smoking. I know there are a few rehab centers that are focusing on quitting smoking with the drugs…especially since tobacco is a drug but the majorities are still doing the opposite. So, addicts leave rehab still in recovery and probably never going to let go of the one thing that could lead them to freedom.

*The last thing I talk to them about is chiropractic care. That is where I get the most unbelievable looks. I get similar looks when I start to talk to them about Christ because of all the misinformation they have about Him and chiropractic care is the same. All the misinformation they have about it blocks them from even considering it. Believe it or not, this is where many of them think I am crazy. I explain the concept, research, etc….but they are still resistant. This really makes me passionate about getting chiropractic care in the main stream of rehabilitation of addicts. I encourage all of you to read this short article sent to me by Dr. Rod Justice at http://www.dynamicchiropractic.com/mpacms/dc/article.php?id=54798.

There you have it, the three musts to freedom. Christ, give up worldly vices and chiropractic care. You will not achieve it with one or the other. You can recover with Jesus but if you don't give up your worldly vices or get your body aligned you will only achieve recovery. If you give up your worldly vices and receive chiropractic care but do not get to know Christ, you will only achieve recovery. If you receive chiropractic care and get to know Jesus but not give up your worldly vices, you will only achieve recovery. I have found something better than my drugs, makes me feel better and bring true fulfillment. That is what I pray for others to experience because until they do they will always be in recovery and not freedom.

Because of this truth, I sometimes feel so alone. I am bombarded by religion messing up who Jesus is, people not being encouraged to quit smoking and the crazy looks when I mention chiropractic care. I stay strong because I know these to be truths because I have been living these truths for almost six years and I am just tired of seeing people suffer in recovery and having people, I was in recovery with, relapse or end up dead!

All three have to be implemented. It is a recipe for freedom from addiction of any kind. Believe it or not, chiropractic care is the hardest concept for me to convince others about. Which tells me we have to be doing more to bring this to the forefront in our society. Again, I strongly encourage you to talk about this in your reports, at your screenings and at conferences!

In my blog entries I have been educating you mostly on drug addiction but chiropractic care is helping with other addictions as well. Go back to earlier blogs in order to refresh your memory about RDS (Reward Deficiency Syndrome) and the research by Dr. Jay Holder on addiction and chiropractic care.

When I started my blog I put the link on my ministry facebook page and explained the research and scientific evidence that accompanied my blog entries. About two months after I had submitted several blogs a young woman found me at an event in my hometown and came excitedly up to me and said, "I have to talk to you after this program." I could see that she was just beaming and could hardly stand to wait until after the program.

Well, after the program she found me and proceeded to tell me her story of fast food addiction. She is very overweight and talked about how this had been bondage for her most of her teen and young adult life. She said she would eat fast food sometimes three times a day, everyday and would eat in secret as well. It was causing problems in her self-esteem, her health and also in her marriage. First I was surprised she was being so honest and didn't seem to be in any denial at all. This is usually a sign that someone is truly breaking free from his or her bondage or addiction.

As she was telling me about her life struggle with this food addiction I was wondering why she wanted to talk to me. Then she said something that I did not expect. She said, "I saw your facebook link about chiropractic care and addictions and I started to read them. After that I decided to see a chiropractor about a month ago and I talked to him about what I had read." The chiropractor had not heard of this research but told her he would work with her. Then she proceeded to tell me that after about a month of chiropractic care she started to have the exact feeling the research describes. A sense of "well being." She could not believe how settled she was starting to feel. Then, she told me she had been without fast food for 11 days and has been feeling great.

I was amazed! This little bit of information did so much for one person? This is why you have to educate your patients! This is just one young woman that would never have thought to seek chiropractic care for her addiction if she had not been given the education through a simple blog. People will listen and people will respond. Addiction is getting worse and worse and it is your responsibility and my responsibility to be a part of the healing.

Since I have spoken with the above mentioned young woman, she has emailed me and told me she still has not had fast food and has been in a kick-boxing class and starting a whole new healthy life for herself and her family! POWERFUL INFORMATION should not be kept for the few!
