DC Practice Market Operational Guidelines
READING THESE TIPS WILL KEEP YOU FROM
BANGING YOUR HEAD ON THE KEYBOARD AND SAYING BAD WORDS!
Thanks again for your subscription to DC Practice Market. We'd
like to take a few moments to give you a few website guidelines to make
using DC Practice Market as easy as possible.
Printer Friendly Format When
you open an article or a newsletter, you will see the "Printer Friendly
Format" icon at the top and bottom of the page. Do not print anything
from this website without selecting the "Printer Friendly Format" icon
first. Try to print anything without selecting the "Printer Friendly
Format" icon and it will print everything on that page; the banner, the
navigation bars, everything. Print without selecting the "Printer
Friendly Format" icon and your office personalization information will
not print at the bottom of the articles or the newsletter. You live and
die by the "Printer Friendly Format" icon.
Browsers You can only be logged
in to DC Practice Market from one computer and on one browser at a
time. You can have numerous windows or tabs open in the browser at the
same time, but only one browser at a time. That means you can't be
logged in on Internet Explorer and log in on Firefox at the same time.
If you do, you will be automatically locked out for 24 hours. If this
happens, I can unlock you sooner but you'll have to call me. My office

Featured Editorials The
Featured Editorials on the Public and Member pages are available for
subscribers and non-subscribers alike.
Appearance The articles and the
newsletter are written in html. As I understand it, if you open an
article or the newsletter and it prints out too small or too big, the
answer is likely changing your browser settings for Font Size. Now, a
word of caution. Before changing the settings on your browser, I want
you to consider using another browser (if you don't have another one,
there are many you can download for free, such as FireFox, Camino,
etc.). Most people use Internet Explorer because it comes with Windows.
This is unfortunate for two reasons. One, there are other, better
programs available that run faster and are free (I use FireFox and love
it). Two, IE causes problems with our site. I can't say that everyone
who uses IE has problems but I can say that everyone who has problems
is using IE. Simply switching to FireFox has solved 99.9% of the
problems we deal with on a regular basis.
Sometimes offices will have their browser set up a specific way to work
with an electronic billing program or some other essential program. We
don't want to mess with that so using another browser that you only use
for DC Practice Market may be the best approach. Anyway all browsers
are different so if you can't find one that prints out the articles
correctly, you'll have to go into your alternate browser's Preferences
file and find the settings for Font Size or Page Setup to mess with the
margins. Some browsers will have a specific size you can set, others
will have a setting for "never use fonts smaller than…" Some browsers
will have a Scale setting under Page Setup. If your articles are
printing too big or too small, changing the Scale settings may be the
ticket. Believe me, if all browsers were the same, life would be easier
for all of us who use html code.
Emailing Articles & Newsletters
You can send your patients any of our articles or newsletters via
email. There are a couple of ways to do so. After you have selected
your article or newsletter you want to send, you're going to click on
the "Printer Friendly Format" icon. When the page opens, rather than
print it, you want to do a "Save As" (sometimes called "Save Page As")
and select "Web Page, HRML only". This will save the article as a
document that you can email as an attachment. Another way to save an
article or newsletter is to save it as a pdf file (usually found as an
option under the Print command). If your computer doesn't have a pdf
writer already, there are tons of them out there, just do a Google
search on pdf writer" and you'll find thousands to choose from. Again,
this will save the article as a document you can email as an attachment.
Ongoing Changes DC Practice
